![]() It is easy to take technology for granted. It is everywhere and so simple to use that we sometimes don’t appreciate just what a difference it is making in our lives. It is strange to think that it was just over two decades ago that cars started to have GPS tracking systems. Phones that could be carried around, a necessity in the modern world, were once the plaything of only the super-rich. Modern smartphones, by comparison, are said to have more computing power than NASA had when it sent two men to the moon in 1969. Nearly everybody now just carries one around and uses it to take selfies and play games. It is astounding to think just how quickly technology has developed and how much it will continue to improve in the future. If you are a tech enthusiast, it can often be daunting to face the near constant supply of new exciting products. Just when you thought you’d managed to get the latest, most up to date version of something, a new one is released to fanfare and critical acclaim. You can, as some people do, just continue to buy every new product as they come out, use them for a little while and then abandon them. However, it is a cycle that does not really help anyone. A smarter way of thinking about technology is to consider which things are good investments. Just as when you are a homeowner for the first time, you need to make sure the foundations are sound, with technology you need to make sure that you have the most essential items. Here is a list of a few things that every tech lover should make sure they have: The first inclusion might seem a little surprising, but it is crucial. However much tech you may have at home if you can’t enjoy it comfortably then what is it for? A reliable, well-designed office chair is important because it saves you from hurting your back and allows you to relax while concentrating on other things. Whether you are spending several hours, or all night gaming or you work from home and need to be comfortable throughout the day, you can’t afford to develop back pains. Office chairs can be expensive but if you buy a good one, it will likely last for a long time. Next, before investing in any phones, laptops or speaker systems, you must make sure that you have internet with which they can connect. Internet providers are continually trying to outdo each other in providing the latest technology to ensure the fastest speeds. Without the internet, you will just be sitting at home surrounded by pretty machines that are not nearly as effective as they could be. As of last year, speeds of 750 megabits a second became available. That might seem excessive, but the relationship between a good internet connection and good technology to use it with is symbiotic. If the internet is slow, your tech may well as be outdated. However, if you invest in an internet connection, you should concurrently invest in a good gaming computer. The great thing about gaming computers is that even if you don’t use them for gaming all the time, they are still powerful and fast enough to take care of anything else you might need a computer for. With a gaming computer, you still have the option of exploring the immense and varied world of gaming, one which changes and improves all the time. Besides, while you’re investing in a new computer, you may as well build your own. This way, you can upgrade your hardware as new graphics cards or processors become available. When you buy a computer as a whole, however good it may be, you are restricted in your ability to improve it piece by piece; a $500 Gaming PC offers a versatile alternative. This way, you also get to learn how to build a computer, a valuable skill and something that can be as fun as using one. Now to the smaller, more specific things: an external hard drive is a must. It gives you peace of mind if your computer, for whatever reason, was to crash and take your data with it. Also, external hard drives are better than Cloud technology which can more easily be hacked or otherwise compromised. Other essential hardware for the perfect set up is a good mechanical keyboard and a mouse. These are especially important if you do want to use your computer for gaming. Once you’re confident in your home set up, it is time to make sure that you are covered when it comes to other kinds of tech. An up to date smartphone is something that nobody can do without. Service providers, like internet providers, are aware that everybody always wants the next best thing, so they are competitive in offering good deals on data, calls, and texts. A good smartphone allows you to engage in all the benefits of our modern connected world. If you want to be successful in your social life, then you need a number of apps. Working on the go can also be facilitated by what is practically a laptop in your pocket. Another thing to consider is that if you are going to need your smartphone so much, it is a good idea to think about buying a portable charger. One of the persistent disadvantages of many new smartphones is that their batteries last about one day, if that. Do not get caught out!
The last thing that you might want to think about is a camera. Photography is a beautiful art form, and if you want to do it properly, you should invest in one that can keep up with your creative ambitions. Some cameras can be expensive, but many are quite affordable too. With a little research, it is quite easy to find one that will fit your budget. These are just a few ideas for things that will make sure you’re as tech savvy as you can be.
