Content is king. I don’t know about you, but I’m a little tired of the phrase. Which isn’t to say it isn’t true; on the contrary, content is still extremely important when it comes to the marketing success of your business. But it’s been a popular phrase for such a long time that I’ve gotten a bit tired of hearing it!
Still, we tire of this sort of phrase in the same way an adult might get tired of being told to brush their teeth twice a day: sure, the phrase may be annoying to hear, but it’s gotten so popular because it’s what we should be keeping in mind. There is truth to these clichéd phrases we’re so used to hearing.
The content that you add to your website, blog, and social media accounts is still key to the success of your marketing strategy. So here are a few bits of wisdom that you definitely need to keep in mind going forward!
Good content needs good marketing techniques
Of course, this is some inaccuracy to be found when people talk so highly about content. Because there are people out there who are utterly convinced that good content is all you need. Build it and they will come, I guess you could say. But your business is no field of dreams - even if your content is killer, you need to ensure that people are actually going to read it. Good content does help your marketing, but your marketing also needs to help your content. So don’t assume that good, original, informative writing is all you need. That should be all you need, but I’m afraid that simply isn’t the way the world works!
Variety is a must
You want to spice things up a little, right? It’s not just about delivering content of a good length and on a frequent enough basis. If all the content covers the same topic every time, then people are going to get a little exhausted pretty quickly. So you need to make sure you’re throwing in a bit of variety. One really good way of doing this is by looking into guest blogging. Getting someone new to share their insight with your readers helps add some of that spice! Word count counts
Google’s bots judge content in a variety of ways. They want to ensure that the best results are what makes it to the top of their search result pages. After all, that’s what keeps people using sites like Google. So how exactly is content judged to be good? Well, one thing that certainly doesn’t hurt is a decent length. Search engine bots are going to assume that anything under 500 words simply isn’t going to be that informative or useful. Yes, other factors are considered. But the ‘500 words or more’ rule is so frequently violated by content creators that it definitely needs to be highlighted above the others here!
Video is taking over
It’s a must that you keep on eye on content trends. It’s estimated that video content will begin to make up the bulk of popular content this year. So consider looking into video production if you want to keep newer users engaged!
