It’s great having a new startup, but you need to let people know about it or it will never grow into anything meaningful. We all know the stories of how some of the large tech companies were started in bedrooms and went on to be huge successes, but that was in the early days of the Internet. Now there are so many companies online, there is not much you cannot buy, and this particularly applies to the tech industry.
If you are selling to other businesses or consumers, there are ways of marketing to get your tech business known, to grab people attention and turn them into sales.
Trade shows might not seem an obvious way of marketing a tech startup, but there are trade shows for the tech industry all over the world every week of the year. A trade show booth can be a brilliant way of showing off your latest innovations, some of which might need explaining to potential customers that are not very tech savvy. Explain things in a way that makes it easy for them to follow, without being condescending, and you are likely to have a loyal customer forever more.
Trade shows bring together people with a common interest, so generally, you will only have people approach your booth that are interested in your product.
Tech marketing cannot be discussed without mentioning social media. It is the most powerful marketing tool there is at the present time and could be an ideal way for you to show off your tech products.
Just remember to always be positive with users, never ignore them and don’t be afraid to interact with them. If they know that you understand a bit more about technology than they do, they will ask for help and hey presto, another loyal customer.
Your Website – It should Be The Best
If you are selling tech, anyone looking at your website would expect it to be one of the best. They would not have much faith in you if it looks dated and is not very user-friendly. A site that is cluttered, hard to navigate and not responsive on all devices will not keep customers interested.
It is estimated that you have just 4 seconds to grab the interest of a viewer, and if you can keep them there for 10 seconds you are doing well. Any longer starts to affect your ranking on the search engines, and the higher you go the more viewers you will get.
There are many other ways of marketing any business, such as email campaigns, guerrilla marketing, special events, paid searches and display advertising to name just a few. Getting the right marketing strategy can mean the difference between the success and failure of you tech startup, and it is for the reason that so many businesses use an agency to help them.
However, we do not all have the cash to pay agency fees and there are lots of online resources that can guide you in the right direction. It’s all a matter of balancing what will work for you with what you can afford and doing the best possible job that you can with what you have.
