![]() Technology will always be a major part of any business. However, it takes a bit of dedication and some investment to fully integrate it into your workplace. For instance, if you’ve been operating a retail store for a few years, then it’s not as easy as just picking up the phone and speaking to someone in order to take your store online. You have to worry about a lot of things such as payment methods, taking pictures of all your items, and shipping fees that you need to consider when delivering overseas or across the country. But that’s not to say you shouldn’t do it. You’ll always have to integrate technology into your business at some point unless you want to fall behind your competitors. But how do you pick what to digitise and where should you be investing your money? Use technology to replace monotonous task Take the easy and repeatable tasks you have, then give that job to a computer. Anything that you personally perform that doesn’t take creativity or judgement can probably be made easier with a computer. For example, if you work in a medical practice and you manually calculate expenses and bill clients, then you could use a medical billing service to make it easier on you. Not only do these services replace your pen and paper workflow with a digital one, they can also do the work for you much like an outsourcing service and it can be done without ever needing to set up a meeting or install complicated equipment. Use technology to reach a wider audience ![]() One of the most common examples of using technology to gain a larger audience is to start using the internet and social media. For instance, you might consider using the internet to start a website to allow for bookings or online orders, or you might start using social media to spread the word about your business so that you have a wider audience to advertise to. With enough followers and media attention, you could turn a humble store into an internationally known business. It takes a lot of work, but you can’t do it without taking risks to try and integrate technology into your business. Use technology to improve the customer experience ![]() One of the most misunderstood yet important components of any business is the customer experience. Regardless of what you sell or provide, you always need to have a steady stream of contact with your customers so that they can ask you for help and so you can advertise your latest products and services to them. A great way to do this is to use an automated emailing service to send out emails to all of your customers at once. Another way to use technology in order to improve your customer’s experience is to provide quick-response support, such as a chat service on your website or a social media account that they can contact. In short, integrating technology into your business is simple, but finding a use is the hard part. Just remember that technology is great at bridging gaps and repeating monotonous and logical tasks, but technology isn’t that good at emulating human creativity. Leave a Reply. |
