Technology advances at such an alarming rate, and often we just roll with the punches and get on with it.
Have you ever stopped to think about just how we take on new technology in our homes? We adapt to new systems so frequently, and use so many different things daily.
We even use tech in our professional lives. Even the most simple job can involve using modern technology that perhaps a generation ago would have seems extremely futuristic.
It is fair to say that our personal relationship with technology has changed over the years. Let's look back at some of ways tech has changed the game.
Having the right equipment to protect yourself on the job
Some of us might have a job role that involves us putting ourselves on the front line. From working in law enforcement to the military, owe might have a job that involves us, or even with my career as a reporter covering breaking news, there are times when your work requires you to be out within the general public where things aren't always in our control.
Tech, such as gear for first responders ensures that we feel safe in doing so. Cameras that fit to our bodies, vests and protective clothing that can stop severe attacks causing bodily harm. Years ago these sorts of things might not have been available, but for instance when I was on the ground in Ferguson covering the protests after the Michael Brown shooting, the company I worked for provided me with a body cam to ensure my safety as a member of the media. You can watch some clips of my reporting below.

How you work
The way we work has changed dramatically and because of technology, the way we do things has also changed. Ten years ago when I was just starting out in the workforce as a recent grad and newbie reporter, I had no idea that I'd now be working from home and making my career by doing what I love: sharing the stories of people who inspire me.
It is now easier than ever to work from home, to work on a career that years ago possibly didn’t even exist. Creating videos for YouTube, Blogging, being a social media manager. These things are now possible and fully fledged career options because of technology. Want to learn more? Message me!
Being able to account for things
Finally, technology accounts for the way we can account for events nowadays. Dash cams being present on cars can capture crime, can recount your story of accidents and even help police during investigations. Traffic cameras, security cameras on shops, buildings and homes, they can all help to solidify your version of events.
I hope that this has highlighted to you how technology has really changed for you on a personal level.
