The van movement is having a moment. Major life decisions are being made. Savings accounts created. Jobs quit. Furniture sold. Leases cancelled. Vacation days depleted. People are opting to live in their vehicles and set off on a cross country excursion....for pleasure. Something exciting is waiting out there for you and an old VW van or Chevy might be your key to finding it.
It's time to buckle up and enjoy the open road!
While many Americans are sipping the "Van Life Kool-Aid" I'm here wondering, is this really the best way to explore our beautiful country?
If you want to do Van Life but can't imagine living in one or don't want to go through the renovation process, perhaps an RV would be better for you.
So what makes RV life better?
Maybe you didn't think about this (and neither did I at first) the hunching you must endure while moving around the van will likely cause some serious back pain. In an RV, you have the freedom to stand, stretch, and walk around without much concern for height.
Everyone's gotta go! But nothing can delay a trip like having to make frequent stops at dirty rest stops, gas stations, or embracing the wild and going in nature! In an RV, you don't have to think twice about using the restroom. RV's come with not just sinks, but also bathrooms. Now you can put your focus on better things than scoping out the next restroom break!
As much allure as there is towards the van life, I think RV's have made added certain features we are used to and have allowed us to take to the open road while keeping some comforts of home along for the ride! If you are planning a big road trip or think it's time to downsize, give RV life a chance. The experience will be one you'll never forget!
