IThe way we are entertained has transformed over the years. In the past cable providers were necessary, due to the rise of the digital age they are becoming less popular.

With services such as Netflix and Amazon Video slowly taking over the market, are cable providers heading for extinction?

I can personally say, I haven't had cable in more than a year, and t
he entertainment industry is no longer what it used to be. The way we consume media has changed, and so has the way it’s produced.

While internet-based services are experiencing a rise in popularity, cable providers are losing interest.

What makes people turn against capable providers? Let’s find out.

Modern entertainment

One of the main reasons more people than ever before are choosing to ditch their cable providers is the rise of modern entertainment.
Online services are at the height of their popularity, attracting audiences of all ages from around the globe.
Since this is a fairly recent occurrence, we are in the middle of experiencing a shift. Modern entertainment is overtaking classic cable, opening doors and transforming the industry as result.

Downfall of cable providers

There’s no denying that cable providers have always had their flaws. They’re not necessarily cheap and they come with many limitations.
Online services offer more content for much less, making them more appealing for people. We all love a good bargain and at the moment, online entertainment seems to be it.
If you find yourself often thinking whether you should cancel your Time Warner Cable service, perhaps now is the right time.

Original content

Cable providers offer a variety of content. They  just can’t compete with online streaming services.

With Netflix starting the trend of streaming services making original programming a new era begun.

We are more reliant on online streaming and downloads, slowly making cable providers less necessary. This is an ongoing process that is only going to grow as time progresses.

Who knows – perhaps in a couple of years all entertainment will be online.

Verdict

Although cable providers have served us well for many years, it’s time for them to retire. With entertainment shifting forms over the years, it’s a different world out there.

The era of online streaming is here whether we like it or not. We can either embrace It become a part of it as time progresses, or remain stuck on the past.

With more entertainment moving online, the era of streaming content is upon us.

No one can tell you what you should do, when it comes to your cable provider. If you can’t make up your mind, there are a few things you can do. It’s always a good idea to determine your needs and circumstances. Based on that, you choose the right service for you. It’s easy to do and you can have new content at your disposal in the matter of days.

Entertainment has never been more available to us. With the online era growing as time progresses, who knows where it will be in the years to come. Perhaps a new era will begin, shifting focus from online streaming to another form of entertainment.
