We are spending more time sitting down than at any other time in history. Most people have a sedentary job that involves sitting at a desk for more than eight hours a day. Why is the office environment bad for posture?
The human body has evolved to move around a lot a lot and adopt different positions during the day. If you have to adopt any position for a prolonged period of time it puts a strain on joints, ligaments, and tendons. In time, chronic inflammation can build up as your body suffers continual damage. The inflammation starts to press on nerves and you start to experience pain and discomfort.

There are some features that are especially useful at protecting postural health. You should choose a chair that has an adjustable height.
