Despite the oftentimes shoddy service, I've stayed loyal to Sprint specifically because they are one of the only carriers that offer unlimited data.....until now.
Verizon has not only introduced unlimited data packages for customers. But does unlimited data for everyone mean slower service? That's not the case according to at least one independent study.
On Thursday, RootMetrics – the nation’s most rigorous, independent study – released its new RootScore Report and rated Verizon the #1 network in Los Angeles for the 7th time in a row.
In the national report also released today, RootMetrics ranked Verizon highest in overall network performance across the U.S.
In a statement received by Sasha Talks Tech, Verizon gave us an overview on their plans for the state of California.
Enhancements include the addition of new small cells throughout the Bay Area, Palo Alto and the core of Los Angeles.
These cells are a combination of a radio, antenna, power and a fiber connection strategically positioned on street lights, sides of buildings or other structures.
They operate within Verizon’s existing network coverage area to add additional 4G LTE capacity where it’s needed most – in heavy traffic areas.
Additionally, Verizon installed or upgraded distributed antenna system at Levi Stadium, San Francisco Airport, LA Coliseum, Rose Bowl and Dodger Stadium.
DAS is a way to deal with isolated spots of poor coverage inside a large building by installing a network of relatively small antennas throughout the building to serve as repeaters. The upgrades to the network also include the launch of Verizon’s next gen LTE Advanced technology that provides 50 percent faster peak speeds for customer.
