The point of technology is to make things simpler and more accessible. It is also to help make our lives a little easier. Sometimes we can, of course, get a little frustrated with it. How many of us have wanted to throw out our computer at some point? But really, when it is working, it can give us such a wealth of knowledge and quality of life. Because of the versatility of technology, it can even help to reduce our carbon footprint. So what are the ways that technology makes our life easier?
Our Work Life
In pretty much every industry, your work life will have improved because of technology. Think of freelancers for instance. They are able to work pretty much anywhere and at any time. All they need is a laptop and an internet connection. The same goes for office workers that might be able to work from home from time to time. So if their bus or train is delayed, they have options to still get work done. Gone are the days when you had to take a sick day if you couldn’t get into work. Even things like medicine have improved because of technology. Think about how easy it is for our doctors to have access to certain information. They can also communicate with a medical specialist via a video call if they need some advice. The same goes for businesses that have clients of offices in different countries. You wouldn’t necessarily need to travel to those other countries to talk to the team. Skype calls and video conferencing is a big deal, and it works well. All thanks to technology. It just makes our working lives so much easier.
Our Personal Life
If you’ve got children, it is great to know that when they are old enough, they will be able to have a mobile phone. Then you know that they will be reachable whenever you need them. Technology also helps us to study and even read a book. How many of us used to pack a huge amount of books or magazines when we went abroad? Now you just need to pack an e-reader or tablet. It doubles up as a laptop device and also as a book and study aid. Even just things like watching a movie are made much easier with technology. There are so many iOS and Android movie apps that you can download. So it can make travel, commuting or even just home life that bit easier. It can be such a help when traveling with children too.
Think about how you might have used to pay bills for a second. Did you have to be on the phone for a long time, or send off a check in the mail? So even things like paying bills are quick and improved. With the instant access to pretty much everything, we can become a little dependent on it. So it is still important to monitor how much you use it, so you aren’t reliant on it completely.
