A Streaming Service
The future is in streaming, in services like Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime - so if you only have normal TV, it could be time to look into online services to get a little more variation in your viewing diet. Netflix in particular is sinking a lot of money into original programming and has produced a lot of huge hits like House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black and Stranger Things, which was probably the biggest hit of 2016. If you love watching TV and movies, invest in streaming.
If you love using your phone but the screen is too small, or you take your laptop everywhere but it’s heavy and cumbersome, it’s time to get yourself a tablet.
You can plug in keyboards so that you can type easily, and invest in a data plan so you can use it anywhere you like.
A Better Sound System
If you love music, there’s absolutely nothing that you should get that’s more important than a new sound system. In particular, new speakers will really improve the quality of the sound that you get from your music, with a whole lot more depth that will make you enjoy your tunes even more. Look into getting audio transformers if your old speakers are no longer working particularly well. You could also consider getting surround sound for an even more detailed soundscape.
A Smart Thermostat
If you’re picky about the way that your home is heated then there’s nothing that could suit you better than a smart thermostat, which will figure out the temperature you like your home to be at and adjust the heating and air conditioning accordingly. If you’re sick of getting up to change the thermostat all the time in the evenings, then technology like this will definitely change your life for the better.
A New Security System
A good quality security system will not only let you know if your home has been broken into, but it’ll also deter thieves from trying to do so - make sure that you have a sticker on your window or a sign up making it clear that you have great home security. Video cameras that start recording when they sense motion might make you feel more secure when you’re home alone, and can also be great insurance if your home does get broken into.
If you love using your phone then here’s a new way to use it: with smart appliances. If you hook your phone up to your washing machine and coffee maker, you can tell them when to switch on, meaning that you can do your laundry safely from your office at work and make yourself a cup of coffee from the warmth of your bed in the mornings.
