He now adds author to that list with the release of his new book, "Start Me Up!"
"I learned from the mistakes many people made along their entrepreneurial journeys," Ebongsaid. "There's a better way to start a business and it doesn't include wasting time writing a book report - business plan!"
Meet our March 2014 GO-GETTER: Ebong Eka
What inspired you to become an author?
"I started receiving calls from women and Veterans who wanted to started business but were getting hung up on their business plans," said Ebong. "I also realized that they were missing the integral parts for success. I call them the Four S's to small business success. These four stages are the important areas that every small business owner needs to focus on when starting a business. If you don't want to be successful, ignore these stages!"
How do you use social media in business?
"I am a huge fan of content marketing," Ebong told us. "I use social media to share information, educate my followers and motivate people. I spend a lot of time teaching entrepreneurs the importance of authentic social engagement in person and in the book. Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest etc aren't blow horns!
"Too many people are marketing like they are in the year 2001. Social media is about authentic engagement. the people and companies that behave that way tend to flourish in the current media environment." ~Ebong Eka
What is the one piece of advice you'd offer readers who have an idea but don't know where to start?
"Fall in love with a customer problem you want to solve - don't fall in love with an idea! People will pay you handsomely for your solution but not the idea!" said Ebong.
