If nobody knows about your business how do you expect them to be able to purchase from you? They may not know your store, or website exist. They may never have heard about your brand or what you do. There’s no point complaining that you have minimal site visits or low footfall if you haven’t done anything to rectify the issue. You need to be out there and visible in the public eye. Look at the major companies out there. Even though the majority of people know about them they still advertise. Sometimes it is a specific product, other time it is just the brand itself. Sure, you cannot advertise on this scale. But it can be done on a smaller scale that is just as impressive and effective. Make your business visible, make it easy to see and recognisable. It’ll be tough at first, yet after a while you’ll notice the increase in sales. These tips can get you started when addressing visibility. You may have considered some of them, but try the others out and see if they garner results. Good luck!
First start thinking about the easy stuff. Look at the generic things people use in their day to day life. What do they find useful? For example a pen, or an umbrella. Get some branded and hand them out. You can visit promotional products center for more examples. These can increase your visibility by a drastic amount. Be smart and hand them out to the right people. For example if you own a restaurant or eatery hand them out around lunch time. Getting these products can be expensive, so you cannot do it all the time. But it if you do it in conjunction with other types of visibility exposure you can really get the best out of it.
Look at the trade shows in your local area. These are great because you are targeting customers who are inclined to spend their money. Otherwise they would not be at a trade show. The key here is to find the right trade show. There is no point going to a food trade show if you specialise in SEO. Be clever about it and find the right show. It might be halfway across the country, but if it is the right show go for it. Your visibility will increase with the right people and you could end up meeting new clients if you market your business in the right way. Remember you need to narrow down your visibility here too. Sure, you are at the show, but are you recognisable? Use branded table cloths, media walls, t-shirts and the like. Find a good spot too. Not a dingy and sparsely travelled alcove but something on the main street of the event in question.
If you own a physical premises you need to make it stand out. Be visible on the high street. Look at your signage, is it clean or new? Consider investing in a new one. If someone sees your dingy sign and a newer one they’ll likely go to the store with the newer one because in their head they will subconsciously aliken your sign to the business overall. Ensure your products are represented in the windows too. Think about using digital window advertisement. Things that move attract the eye way more than a plain poster. It is becoming one of the better ways to advertise in fact, so jump on the bandwagon when it is still moving.
You need to think about using consistent branding across everything too. For example if your business colours are blue and red but your promotional materials yellow it won’t add up and people won’t make the connection. Everything needs to be the same otherwise you run the risk of confusing people. Settle on great branding and stick with it. Put your logo on everything you can. If you don’t have a logo then design one or get one designed.
Everything needs to be the same online. If you do not have an online presence your visibility is suffering already. You will be losing out en masse to your competitors so get with the times and get online. First you need a website. This needs to follow the same branding as the rest of the product packaging and advertisement. Your website is the first step into the digital world and the first step of increasing your visibility online.
You now need to bring people to your website. Look to social media first. Millions use it every day and if you can reach a small number of them you can increase your visibility and traffic to your website. You need to create a business page and start posting quality content. In this use links back to your website. You’ll soon see the traffic increase, just don’t use click bait tactics, people hate those.
You may want to look at SEO to increase traffic to your website. Check out google analytics too so you know from where people are coming from. Getting this right is paramount. Remember, your website needs to be optimised for mobile phone and tablet browsing too. More people browse on phones than computers these days so do your best to get it right. Hiring a web developer here may be necessary, but do it because otherwise you’ll alienate a percentage of your website browsers.
On the same line consider getting an app developed. This highlights you as a forward thinking business you is in touch with modern constructs. It could be hugely useful to your consumers too if you think it through properly. The app could be used for browsing your stock, purchasing, making reservations, etc. Think of a bespoke way in which your app will work and again approach a developer. This puts you in a more visible position for both apple and android which are huge in the smartphone market. If you do all of this your business will be infinitely more visible and you’ll be on the right path to more sales.
